Boss Women, Bold Moves: Celebrating Featsy Vendors
This Women’s Month, we’re celebrating some of Featsy’s amazing vendors – Scatter matters, Lemon Belly Buster, Profumo Celeste, Ellis Art

Jo-Ann’s love affair with crochet began at the tender age of twelve, seated beside her grandmother and learning to make simple squares with quiet focus and growing pride. Those early stitches weren’t just practice—they were the first threads of a lifelong creative journey.

After finishing high school, Jo-Ann stepped into the world of banking. It was structured, predictable, and secure—but it didn’t ignite her passion. Seeking something more fulfilling, she opened a bridal boutique in Paarl. Surrounded by lace, tulle, and satin, she discovered how artistry and business could intertwine. Her attention to detail and appreciation for beauty became the foundation of her creative identity.

When her husband’s career took them to Johannesburg, Jo-Ann embraced the move as an opportunity to reinvent herself once more. It was there that she committed to crochet and needlework—not just as a pastime, but as a craft to truly master. Over the next 25 years, she honed her skills in garment construction, pattern design, and the mathematics of fit and form, transforming her hobby into an art form.

Today, Jo-Ann designs bespoke crochet wearables that marry precision with imagination. Each piece she creates is more than just clothing—it’s a work of art, a story spun from experience, resilience, and creativity. From banker to boutique owner to artisan, Jo-Ann’s journey is proof that with passion and perseverance, every stitch can lead to something extraordinary.

You can find Jo-Ann’s handcrafted creations on Featsy, Anna-J Needlework Studio, where her collection of crochet wearables celebrates the timeless beauty of handmade art. Shop her collection on Featsy and wear a story woven in every stitch.
