Meet Nicci Erasmus (above figure) the owner of The Soulful Owl.

How it all started

They say if  you do not make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness. This was definitely true for me: having a career in the fast-paced corporate world, pressure and stress were my constant companions. The daily grind of office life and multiple meetings, the long hours, demanding deadlines, and relentless pressure had taken a toll on my well-being. And yes, by the end of 2023, I had to do just that – reconsider my life choices and prioritise my wellbeing!

But my journey towards healing and wellness started much earlier and was a gradual one. I had been using Helichrysum Splendidum (Southern Immortelle) for many years to treat severe sinus congestion. This amazing essential oil not only provided immediate relief for my sinus symptoms but also has a long list of beneficial attributes.

Inspired by the impact of Immortelle on my own health, and feeding my passion to help and heal others, I was drawn to start a business, based on ancient wisdom and gifts from nature. A world where your skincare range could restore and rejuvenate your skin. Whilst relieving sinus congestion and enhancing your clarity and purpose? Why not! And so Soulful Owl was born….

Setting up my business

“Setting up a small business is fun!” they said.   Yes, and a lot of hard work…. And many decisions to make….

The endless search for the right products, the right packaging, branding and labeling commenced.  And let me not even start on finding the right (and reliable) suppliers!  In the world of online orders, I believe in old-fashioned face-to-face meetings and “show me your product and stock”.  Managing the risks of a new business, including the reliance on suppliers meant many trips and visits to ensure that my suppliers’ flawless website and online store were substantiated by a well-resourced team that made me feel like their only customer on the days when I drop in unannounced.

The Soulful Owl natural skin care range consists of high-quality natural products, all containing Immortelle with its many properties. The carefully curated range of natural chemically-free products, includes a refreshing foam face wash infused with rosemary, a luxurious serum for skin rejuvenation and anti-aging with Vit E, Almond Oil and Squalene, a hydrating facial mist infused with rose geranium, and a deeply nourishing face cream with avocado base cream and baobab oil, among others.
