Glow & Show – A Radiant Skincare Journey from Dream to Reality

I am a typical young student of 21 years old and live in Limpopo.  I recently completed a 4 year degree at the University of Venda and live with my parents and brother.

How did you start?

My journey began with a thoughtful birthday gift of R1200, which I used as the seed capital to start my skincare hobby.  Little did I know that my hobby would eventually blossom into a thriving skincare business.   I started by posting on social media about skincare but at this stage I had NO products, No roadmap and No idea on how to make beauty products! I was just having fun and an unwavering belief in the potential of Glow & Show.

Google and Youtube are wonderful.  I owe all my foundational knowledge to beauty lovers around the world who taught me how to mix and make my products.   What a mess I made in the beginning – mistakes, oil all over the place, honey in my hair, sticky kitchen.

Where did you start selling your skincare products?

I worked on perfecting my products and then took the brave step of posting them on my social media.  I was so happy and blown away because my followers showed interested and started placing orders.   I had to quickly make and finalise my products  so I could send them to my followers. And so I made my first Rand.

This early affirmation fueled my commitment to turn my dream into a tangible reality.  And now I am on Featsy.

How long have you been selling your skincare products?

Not long.  I can’t believe how fast my business has grown in such s short time.  I started posting in December 2023 and only became fully operational in early January 2024.  So I am a newby to the business world and am about to celebrate my 2 month anniversary.

What do you make?

My Stall is called Glow and Show which focuses on the beauty and self-care products.  I only use natural ingredients to harnessing the power of organic elements to combat hyperpigmentation, dark spots, acne, and pimples.  I currently have 4 products in my range and am working on a few new ones.

1. Honey comb face scrub : Honey-based and B.U.X. scrub, designed to exfoliate the face, eliminate dead skin cells, and prepare the canvas for subsequent skincare applications. This scrub promises a radiant glow by opening up pores and invigorating the skin.

2. Treasy Tea tree oil : Hair growth and strengthening oil, suitable for all hair types. Beyond its primary function of strengthening hair, this product aims to promote hair growth, offering a holistic approach to beauty.

3. Tumeric soap bar :  The turmeric soap, another gem from my collection, serves as a remedy for dark spots, providing a clear finishing touch to the skin. Its natural properties contribute to a healthier complexion while addressing specific skincare concerns.

4. Rosey black coconut oil Two powerful oil combos designed to combat dark spots, acne, and hyperpigmentation is my last product. These formulations stand as my dedication to addressing diverse skincare needs.

Looking ahead

Glow & Show’s journey is not just about products; it’s about fostering a community of individuals passionate about skincare. My ethos is rooted in the belief that beauty should be nurtured organically and this seems to resonates with those seeking a genuine and effective skincare solution.

Looking ahead, I plan to continue to expand my product line.  I am going to use my customer’s feedback and testimonials, showcasing the before-and-after photos, to refine and innovate, ensuring that every product continues to meet and exceed expectations.

I am continuing to learn and have now joined Featsy, the Online flea and craft market.   I can’t wait to share my products and look forward to being in bathrooms and bedrooms across South Africa.
